Psychotherapy & Yoga
An integrated approach to Yoga & Psychotherapy The integration of the subjective relational dialogue found in psychotherapy, and the somatic practices of breath and moment found in yoga, provide a potent approach for self-exploration. I have dedicated my life to these two approaches, and they have come to coexist within me. Together, they have helped me to meet some of life’s foundational questions, Who am I, What am I, and Why am I. They continue to support me in living in a rich, deeply connected, and meaningful way.
The two-week intensive program This program draws on Psychotherapy’s dialogue-based reflection, and Yoga’s somatic exploration, to facilitate deep self-exploration. I will support the realisation of your potential by holding space for your natural tendency towards growth to move freely. The practices of relational psychotherapy and of vinyasa yoga will be called upon to facilitate connection to self and others, to build a sense of meaning, and to support a fully lived and vividly experienced life. We will work within the complimentary frameworks of Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, but the details of the method will be informed by your subjective experience and specific situation.
The program will equip you with a foundational method that can be easily integrated in your daily routine.
Psychotherapy: Person-Centred This approach to therapy is part of the relational humanistic tradition. It is based on a non-judgemental relationship that allows for radical openness. It involves robust dialogue-based exploration of the content that you bring to sessions. Your subjective experience will be our main reference point. Greater self-understanding, changes in behaviour, new ways of coping, and improved well-being often follow from the process.
Yoga: Ashtanga Vinyasa & Sitting Mediation We will work with breath, movement, and stillness to explore the parts of our experience that cannot be reached by words and concepts. We will invite contact with our embodied wisdom and contemplate the deepest parts of ourselves.
The traditional method of teaching Ashtanga will be used in which practitioners practice together in the same room, at their own pace, with one-on-one guidance from the teacher as needed. The result is an individually tailored practice to serve you. Following this intensive you will build the confidence home based for self-practice or to join a Mysore style class.
